Job Overview

The Instructional VR Designer will be a critical part of the VR production team and will be integral in connecting the product vision to the final product. The Designer will work closely with clients, subject matter experts, the entire production team to craft a thorough and detailed Design Document and support the creation of the Technical Design Document. The Designer must be able to translate and collaborate with the engineering and art teams for pre-production and production tasks while ensuring the quality and integrity of the design.  The Designer must have experience in either the Unreal or Unity engine and be able to support UI/UX and content development needs during production.  The Designer will work closely with the Project Manager in testing, QA, and final product approval to ensure the best quality product is launched within budget and on-time.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Interview clients, subject matter experts and other project stakeholders to author VR product requirements that meet enterprise learning and training objectives 
  • Build storyboards and scripts that reflect the learning objectives, interactivity, and reference materials.
  • Author and maintain design documentation
  • Create value using templates, reusable systems and common UX patterns 
  • Take ownership of a product from discovery through delivery 
  • Collaborate with other disciplines to arrive at compromises and creative solutions to deliver a quality product on time and on budget
  • Communicate effectively all internal teams, as well as with clients and SMEs, to ensure risks are mitigated and clear objectives are understood

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • 3+ years in the games or simulation industry as a gameplay, systems, or UX designer or similar experience as an Instructional Designer
  • Shipped at least 2 products from concept to execution as a lead or senior designer
  • Unreal editor or Unity experience as a content developer – level design, audio hookup, data management and entry ..
  • Strong design sensibilities allowing for simple solutions to feel like complex simulations
  • Comfortable adapting to changing production requirements, unexpected requests, and urgent client needs
  • Must have a passion for learning and collaboration
  • Experience in enterprise learning or training applications preferred
  • Passion for VR/AR/XR industry and relative experience is preferred
  • Experience with live streaming, video editing and other creative content production preferred
  • Experience with enterprise software development and B2B markets preferred
