In this fire suppression training, employees can learn and demonstrate proper use of a fire extinguisher within a common workplace scenario. This virtual reality (VR) simulation allows employees to safely experience several incipient stage fires, apply the PASS System (Pull, Aim, Squeeze, Sweep) to extinguish them, and be given a final grade based on how well they react to these intense real-world situations.

What You'll Learn
This unique VR fire suppression training allows employees to learn and practice fire suppression in a realistic simulation—without any safety risks. Employees taking this training will learn:
- The PASS system – a proven method to remember for using a fire extinguisher (Pull, Aim, Squeeze, Sweep).
- Fire safety – the proper steps for fire safety including first pulling the alarm, using the fire extinguisher, and knowing when to safely exit the scene.
- Real-world reactions – employees will be able to practice and see how they perform under real-world fire scenarios.
The VR Experience
The virtual fire suppression training experience puts the user into a simulated workplace environment. The user needs to first look around to familiarize themselves with the space. The fire emergency scenario begins as soon as the user selects “start” on the blackboard. The user needs to first trigger the fire alarm, then locate and move to the nearest fire extinguisher. The user needs to equip the extinguisher, remove the pin at the top, then properly aim and use the fire extinguisher until the fire is suppressed. The user will encounter multiple fire scenarios that they need to address. If the user stands too long without extinguishing fire or does not exit the room if prompted to leave, then the user will “die” from smoke inhalation. Using the extinguisher for too long will empty the extinguisher. Users can view the score of their performance using the extinguisher properly and following safety guidelines. This training can be repeated for additional practice in fire suppression.
